# Reach SAAM where you already chat.

> Channels are not open yet. We are switching them on one at a time. This page says how they will work and which ones exist, so nothing surprises you.

## What it does

- Links a chat app to one of your agents with a short code.
- Lets you chat with that agent from the app you picked.
- Lets you unlink at any time from the same Settings screen.

## How to start

- Not open yet. Join the list from the Get started page and we will tell you when the first one opens.

## Limits

- No channel is switched on at launch.
- Each channel is one shared SAAM line, set up by the service owner. You link with a code and never paste a token.
- WhatsApp and Telegram are one-to-one chats.
- There is no standalone SMS or email channel.

## One shared line. A short code links you.

A channel is a single SAAM line for everyone on the service: one phone number, one bot. It is set up by whoever runs the service, so you do not create a bot or paste a token.

To tell the line who you are, you link your chat to one of your agents with a short code from Settings.

## Five channels are built. None is on yet.

Each channel below exists in the product. Each one will be switched on one at a time, and its status here changes when it is open.

- iMessage and SMS (Coming): A SAAM number, through Sendblue. SMS is only the fallback on that line, for phones without iMessage.
- WhatsApp (Coming): A SAAM business number. One-to-one chats.
- Telegram (Coming): A SAAM bot you chat with. One-to-one chats.
- Slack (Coming): Built for a single workspace that the service owner controls. It is not an add-to-Slack button.
- Lark (Coming): Built, webhook only.

## How linking will work.

Open Settings, General, Messaging. Choose the agent, then Link a chat app. A code appears, and it is valid for 10 minutes.

Send that code from your chat app to the SAAM line. A confirmation reply arrives, and that chat is now linked to the agent.

- Open Settings: General, then Messaging. The section appears once a channel is switched on.
- Choose an agent: Pick the agent this chat will talk to.
- Get a code: Choose Link a chat app. The code lasts 10 minutes.
- Send it once: Send the code from your chat app to the SAAM line.
- Read the reply: A confirmation says the chat is linked. Unlink from the same screen.

## What it will not do.

Some chat apps and routes do not exist yet, and we are not promising dates. Photos sent in a chat arrive as a link in the text, not as an image SAAM reads.

- Other chat apps: Not built. Only the channels listed above exist.
- Email to an agent: Not built. SAAM can use your mail only through a connected app.
- A standalone SMS line: Not built. SMS exists only as the fallback on the iMessage line.
- Group chats on WhatsApp or Telegram: Not built. Those two are one-to-one.

- Discord: Not built.
- Microsoft Teams: Not built.
